How to get here
You can either taxi or walk here and it will take approximately 10-minutes from Zicatela beach. If you have a scooter or bike that will be even more ideal as there is a free car park at the top of the stairs that take you down to Carrizalillo beach.
The view from the stairs that take you down to the beach is absolutely stunning and will provide an awesome photo opportunity. The 150+ stairs are in good condition and the walk down is considerably easy.
What to do at Carrizalillo beach
Playa Carrizalillo is a small secluded beach cove so it is a great beach to go to if you want to relax or give surfing a go if you’re a beginner as the waves are quite small. The clear waters of Carrizalillo make it an excellent spot for snorkeling. Bring your snorkeling gear and explore the underwater world, observing the marine life and colorful reefs.
Relax on a day bed
If you plan on setting up for the day you may want to use one of the day beds which will cost around 200 pesos for the day. Alternatively, there are other seats further back from the waterfront that has a minimum spend of 150 pesos.
Surf & swim
Playa Carrizalillo is a popular spot for beginner surfers and is a great spot to rent a board and give it a go.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced surfer, you can enjoy the waves at Carrizalillo. There are surf schools in the area that offer lessons for beginners.
There are multiple surf shacks on the beach and the standard rental will cost around 250 pesos per hour. If you’d prefer to book a lesson you can get a 2-hour lesson for around 900 pesos.
Best time to visit Carrizalillo
Carrizalillo beach can be visited any time throughout the day although we would recommend visiting either in the morning or the afternoon to avoid the crowd.
If you want to get a daybed you’d be better to go in the morning as it can be hard to come by at lunchtime / early afternoon.
The glow of the sky as sunsets makes for a gorgeous colored sky so we recommend visiting here for at least one sunset.
We suggest not to go un Sunday is the most crowd it day to go since every one seek to spend quality time with their families on Sundays.
