Located opposite the airport and approximately a 20-minute drive from La Punta, getting here is fairly easy if you have a car while staying in Puerto Escondido.

The most popular time to visit Mirador Punta Colorada is around sunset. As it is a lesser-known spot there tend to be a few more locals than tourists that come here for picnics during sunset which we would highly recommend.
Park the back of your car up to the cliff’s edge (not too close of course) and watch the sun go down while enjoying the view from the back of your car.
Alternatively, take a rug or towel and set it up overlooking the water while having a drink.
Photo opportunity
A really good photo opportunity at Mirador Punta Colorada is down on the rocks in front. Take care if you choose to venture onto the rocks as they can be sharp and fragile however it offers a really good photo shot looking towards Playa Punta Colorada.

If you’re looking out to sea and look to your right the beach you’ll see is Playa Punta Colorada. There is a walking track located behind a giant beware of crocodiles sign that will take you down to the water’s edge in a matter of minutes.
Take a towel and relax on the beach or take a stroll along the endless stretch of beach with little to no tourists. You’ll notice when you walk down where you can do the turtle releasing from Playa Punta Colorada as well.
Mirador Punta Colorada to Bacocho
If you look out to sea and head left there is a dirt track along the hillside that will take you all the way to Bacocho if you choose to adventure there.
