If you’re adventurous there is a coastal walk that wraps around the headland from Playa Principal that will take you to Playa Manzanillo and from there Puerto Angelito is only a 5-minute walk along the beach.

Aside from the fact that the walk along the beach is great, depending on the day the swimming conditions may be more suitable at one or the other so it is worth walking to find the best spot on the day.
Snorkel
Playa Puerto Angelito is generally suitable for snorkeling. The calm and clear waters make it a favorable spot to explore underwater life. You may find opportunities to observe marine flora and fauna, so bringing along snorkeling gear is a good idea.

If you enjoy seafood we would highly recommend LOS BUZOS which is located on the Western headland that connects it with Playa Carrizalillo.
LOS BUZOS has the cheapest oysters in town which are freshly retrieved from divers around the headland. For 100 pesos you’ll be able to get a dozen oysters that come with salsa condiments and lime.
Other Activities
Puerto Angelito bustles with activity as fishermen pull up their boats and mend their nets. You have the opportunity to approach them and join a boat excursion to spot dolphins and turtles, both abundant in these waters.
Keep an eye out for migrating humpback whales from December to March, adding an extra layer of excitement to your experience. If you’re seeking a truly memorable adventure, consider booking a fishing expedition as well.
Best time to visit Playa Puerto Angelito
As Puerto Angelito is the departing point for most of the dolphin-watching and fishing charters that leave Puerto Escondido, it can be fairly busy and hectic in the morning.
If you’re going on a tour (which we would highly recommend) then you’ll normally be back by around 10 am which means you can grab lunch at one of the awesome restaurants and go for a swim.
Alternatively as is the case with most of the beaches in Puerto it is a great spot for a sunset swim.
