The only beachfront rooftop in La Puna, Punta Vida stands out as the ultimate spot to get delicious tacos with a picturesque sunset experience or evening dinner & drink!
Directly facing the beach it stands out as an excellent choice for those seeking more than the typical taco al pastor experience. Notably, their menu includes authentic chamorro and asada tacos which have flavors and traditions that transport you to the heart of Mexico.
Especially the chamorro taco has become a must-try while visiting Puerto. Additionally, they offer an amazing vegan chorizo taco that remarkably mirrors the authentic flavor.
Additionally, they offer tantalizing chamorro and asada tacos, with the chamorro being a must-try specialty.
Elevating the taco experience, Punta Vida presents a diverse and flavorful selection, making it a delightful destination for those looking to savor unique and delicious taco variations by the sea.
Fish Shack
Located down a small side alley in La Punta, Fish shack has some of the most popular tacos in Puerto Escondido by far. The seating to popularity ratio is low so finding a table to try their awesome food is not always so easy.
With that being said if you don’t mind sharing a table with other people they’ll normally be able to find you a spot to indulge in these mouth-watering delights.
By far the most popular taco is the coconut fried shrimp which comes covered in a crunchy chipotle slaw and avocado with a piece of lime to squeeze on to add that zesty tang.
If you’re a meat eater the crunchy fried chicken is also a top choice as it comes with a spicy buffalo sauce in addition to the coleslaw. For the vegetarians, they do an awesome cauliflower taco (fried or griddled) that sure doesn’t disappoint.
Pepe’s Tacos
Pepe’s tacos used to be located in La Punta but recently they moved to central Puerto Escondido just up the road from Chedraui. Pepe himself is the chef and he has built up a reputation and loyal following that has followed him across town.
The tacos are huge and packed full of incredible flavors which have earned them the rightful place on this list. The most popular tacos are either coconut fried shrimp or fish which are covered with pineapple and tomato with a generous coating of guacamole.
If you want to add even more bang to the taco there are different condiments that you can add including Verde Mayonaise, chipotle, or spicy red sauce.
All the ingredients are sourced locally and fresh making for an incredible taco experience.
La Olita
Located in between the main street of La Punta and La Punta beach, La Olita is a lesser-known restaurant however the tacos are incredible. Make sure you have a good appetite as the taco dishes come in sets of three.
The coconut shrimp tacos here are battered rather than fried and come with a healthy coating of Mayonaise, slaw, and black sesame seeds.
If you’re not into shrimp their chicken option is also very popular as it comes covered in flavorsome stir-fried vegetables.
Sativa
If you’re looking for the best tacos with the best view then Sativa definitely needs to be on your list. You can literally sit with your feet in the Zicatela beach sand while enjoying these amazing tacos.
The tacos come in sets of three and the most popular option is the teriyaki fish tacos. The teriyaki fish is placed on top of delicious guacamole and covered with sprouts and a piece of fried plantain to top it off.
We would highly recommend coming here for sunset as regardless if you are a taco fan or not this venue is top-rated in Puerto Escondido.
